Established in February 2020, The Drag Kings is a Production Company turning the drag world on its head with Drag King shows, events & tours. Every performance is different, showcasing artists from around Australia, and bringing lip-syncing, live music, dance, comedy, strip & more to the stage.
Whether you want a show that brings the house down, a King to amp up your line-up, a round of Kingo (that's Drag King Bingo), a Drag host with the most or more - wherever you are in Australia, The Drag Kings is the place to go.
The King behind The Kings
Laura Hart (AKA Big Rod) has been performing for over fifteen years as an actor, comedian and improviser and has taken to the stage as a Drag King for the past six years.
Laura is the founder, producer and host of The Kings and was recently announced as a finalist for the 2022 Honour Awards for their individual contribution to the Arts & Entertainment Industry. They are passionate about drag king representation, and recently curated and hosted a panel of Kings at Australia’s first Drag Expo in Melbourne, and worked as a Drag Consultant for one of Australia’s foremost dance theatre companies - Force Majeure. They have a broad range of skills and experience which they bring to The Kings, such as working as the Performance and Casting Director for Limitless with Chris Hemsworth (Disney/ Nat Geo) in 2021. They are also a professional improvisation teacher, having trained in Australia and overseas.
They have been featured for their work in the Drag scene on outlets such as ABC TV, ABC Queer, The Audrey Journal, TimeOut Sydney, FBi Radio & JOY FM.
